[Letter] 1858 May 1, Charlottesville [Va.] to [John Albert Broadus], Charleston, S.C. / Geo. M. Garrett. 1858.

Preacher supplying the Charlottesville Baptist Church pulpit while Broadus attended the Educational Convention meeting to formalize plans for organization of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary wrote: "Services at the Episcopal Church are still being held day and night. Leslie tells me that the meetings ... are very interesting. The ministers have laid aside their gowns and dispensed with the service and are conducting the meeting as the Presbyterians usually do."
